Someone to Talk To
In the busy environment of a town centre on a Friday or Saturday night, it’s surprisingly easy for people to feel lonely or isolated. Sometimes at the end of a long evening – particularly one fuelled by alcohol – people may be upset, distressed or angry.
Our volunteers are there to listen, without judgement, and to provide a human connection.
People talk to us for many reasons:
- Relationship problems
- Family difficulties
- Anxiety or stress
- Loneliness
- Just needing someone to listen
Confidentiality
We take confidentiality seriously. What you share with us stays with us, except where there’s a risk to your safety or someone else’s, or in rare instances where we are required by law to share it.
We’re Not Professionals
While we offer a listening ear and emotional support, we’re not trained counsellors. If you need professional help, we will try to direct you to appropriate services.
You can find links to other organisations that can help with counselling, health and other concerns you may have in our resource guide.
