It's all about caring - making a difference on the Ipswich streets

Thanks for Saturday night help

A grateful person recently wrote in to say thank you:

"FAO The Two wonderful people that helped me Saturday night.
My husband, friend and I would like to say a huge thank you to you for looking after me Saturday night. We went out with the intention to have a nice meal and a few drinks for my friend's birthday. My friend thinks my drink was spiked but I really do think it's the fact that I did not eat. I am just so grateful you kept me safe until my husband arrived and so was he! I would like to assure you this is not normal behaviour for me and I am a little ashamed but we all make mistakes in this life.
Big thanks once again x"

Men needed for training as Town PastorsIpswich revellers

A further Town Pastor training programme is to take place in Autumn 2008. Click here for more information and application forms. We particularly need men at the present time - but women are also invited to apply. Might this be the area of Christian service you have been looking for? The closing date for applications is Monday 1 September.

Bury Town Pastors on the streets

Churches in Bury St Edmunds have set up a Town Pastors scheme along the lines of the one in Ipswich.  People from Ipswich have assisted with recruitment and training.  The Town Pastors went onto the streets in early May - ahead of the original schedule. This is their website: http://www.burytownpastors.org.uk.

Forty-one churches involved

People from many different denominations, traditions, and church backgrounds are involved in Ipswich Town Pastors,.  Many are out on the streets, and others belong to the prayer team.  In total they represent forty-one churches. Amazing!.  The Bible (1 Corinthians chapter 12) says: "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all people."

Helping at the horrors of a night out
