What Others Say...
"Ipswich Borough Council and Ipswich Crime and Disorder Partnership are very happy to support the work of the Ipswich Town Pastors during key evenings in the town centre.
The work undertaken during the Christmas campaign was seen to be
beneficial by all concerned and we are keen to see this success built
upon.
The close working relationships developed through this work is already
having major benefits in the wider community safety context of the
development of the town centre (especially around the Waterfront) and
is to be welcomed. We look forward to working in partnership with the
Ipswich Town Pastors for many years to come.
Linking in with the Council Emergency Services Centre, where the town centre CCTV is monitored and recorded, the Town Pastors provide excellent help and support to those who are potentially vulnerable following nights out in the Town. The help and reassurance (not forgetting the chocolate bars!) given by the Town Pastors is greatly appreciated by all and has led to a greater sense of safety and security in key areas of the town (taxi ranks and nightclub queues for example). Staff within the Emergency Services Centre notice that areas where people are queuing are much quieter and orderly when the Town Pastors are around as potential flash points and arguments are avoided."
"Is it only one year? The Town Pastors have become so much of a positive presence on the streets that it seems that they have been around much longer. My team are delighted to have worked with them over the past year and have seen first hand how much excellent work has been undertaken. Long may the work of the Town Pastors continue!"
Jim Manning - Ipswich Borough Council Crime Reduction Unit"I feel privileged to have been involved with the Town Pastors since their inception and can say that in their first year they have been able to provide support and reassurance to many people in Ipswich who found themselves in distressing and vulnerable situations. In addition their presence has helped to diffuse some potentially violent confrontations. The Town Pastors are now a familiar sight on the streets of Ipswich and I can say they are making a huge contribution towards making Ipswich a safer place."
